Symptoms of Gross Hematuria:

Visible Blood in Urine: Urine that appears pink, red, or cola-colored due to the presence of red blood cells.

Blood Clots in Urine: In some cases, clots may also be present, making urination painful.

Symptoms of Microscopic Hematuria:

No Visible Signs: Blood in the urine is not visible to the naked eye and is usually discovered through a urine test.

Associated Symptoms Based on Underlying Causes:

Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs):

• Frequent Urination: An increased urge to urinate.
• Pain or Burning Sensation: Discomfort during urination.
• Strong-Smelling Urine: Urine may have a strong or foul odor.
• Lower Abdominal Pain: Discomfort or pain in the lower abdomen.



Kidney Infections (Pyelonephritis):

• Flank Pain: Pain in the back or side, typically on one side.
• Fever and Chills: Often accompanied by high fever and chills.
• Nausea and Vomiting: Common symptoms of kidney infections.

Kidney Stones:

• Severe Pain: Sharp, cramping pain in the back and side, often moving to the lower abdomen and groin.
• Nausea and Vomiting: Frequently accompanying the severe pain.
• Frequent Urination: Increased need to urinate. .
• Painful Urination: Discomfort while passing urine.



Enlarged Prostate (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia - BPH):

• Difficulty Urinating: Trouble starting and stopping urine flow.
• Weak Urine Stream: Reduced force of the urine stream.
• Urgency to Urinate: Sudden, urgent need to urinate.
• Frequent Nighttime Urination: Increased urination at night (nocturia).



Causes

Gross hematuria, where blood in the urine is visible to the naked eye, can be caused by a variety of conditions affecting the kidneys, bladder, or urinary tract.
